Christmas in Australia is a funny thing. It feels.. empty. Santa sits on his throne, handing out gifts to the children paying their taxes in smiles and their parent’s loose change. His kingdom echos with the sound of Christmas music and his decorations deck the halls of his palace. But it’s hot. Christmas isn’t meant to be hot. It’s supposed to be cosy and warm. It’s the cosiness that brings that Christmas spirit. I want to sit and eat a big roasted turkey and not some lamb (though southern hemisphere lamb is very good) off of a barbecue.
So it’s with great pleasure that I can now announce that yesterday I felt the Christmas spirit. Yesterday it rained. Every shop I enter has the music playing and everywhere I go, I can see the decorations. But it’s cold, it’s miserable and it’s Christmas. I am in Japan.
To celebrate this and continue the slew of giveaways this week has brought, I have a copy of Famitsu to give away! Not quite as exciting as the other gifts this week has brought, but it’s the japanese gaming magazine! Plus, there will be more Japanese fun on it’s way. All you have to do is translate the following piece of kanji and email me the translation to Lorcan[at]thesixthaxis[dot]com with “I can speak japanese!” in the subject line. Normal terms and conditions apply, and I’ll only be able to post it once I get back to the UK so you probably won’t get it on time for Christmas, sorry. We’re announcing all the winners tomorrow, so I’ll need answers by 11:59 BST on Saturday the 12th (that’s tonight!) If there are multiple winners, we’ll be picking names out of a hat and if there are none, the closest gets it. If none are remotely close, the funniest translation will win! Anyhoo, here we go..
