Unlucky for some. The number thirteen is considered deeply unlucky for those who are superstitious. It seems that is the case for TSA today as I’m all alone in the Towers. Whilst I’m busy finalising an exciting week-long feature coming to TheSixthAxis starting tomorrow, it’s your turn to bring some Christmas cheer to this wonderful site.

So, I ask you, what unusual or crazy gaming facts do you know? Post them down in the comments and the best one that I personally don’t yet know will receive 50 TSA points for their troubles.

  1. All the dinosaurs in Jurassic Park: Operation Genesis Never blinked, and some never even had eyes.

    • You’re actually wrong. If the game’s graphics was set as high as possible all the large carnivores had eyes that blinked. I believe the Brachio did too.

If you had the graphics set on medium or low, then you are correct and all of the dinosaurs had eyes which came as part of the texture, and therefore did not blink.

Am i sad that i finally got round to registering just to reply to this? lol :P

  2. The Xbox was originally named DirectXbox, as it was initially designed to show how Microsoft’s Direct X graphics technology could benefit the console market.

    • Damn, that would have been lame. They might as well have called the ‘Windowsbox’.

  3. Ummm. Not quite sure I know any. Uhhh. Sonic the Hedgehog is blue and Tails is orange?

    • I thought tails was yellow?

      • He is definitely orange.

      • Yep Orange, I assume he was radioactive. Which would explain the two tails.

      • I guess I’m just a bit colorblind.

  4. Pac-Man’s design is from a pizza with a slice taken out of it. Yeah, I bet nobody knows that one.

  5. Chat show host Jonathan Ross was in Halo 3. He was the voice of one of the marines who helps Master Chief.

  6. Michael jackson wrote the music to son . . . oh . . . right . . .

Activision is run by the devil but he has major investments in EA

  7. If every person working inside of the video game industry were standing in a circle, the circle would easily besiege Bratislava, the capital city of Slovakia.

    • Nintendo employees who cannot get 120 stars in Mario Galaxy receive less salary and must eat in a separate canteen labelled ‘Fail’.

      • The famously awful E.T. game for the Atari 2600 actually sold more than its most famous game, Space Invaders. E.T. sold 1.5 million, while Invaders only shifted a million.

      • Final Fantasy VII was originally designed for the Nintendo 64, but Square cancelled the project and moved to the PSone because of the lack of space in the console’s game cartridges. FFVII would’ve filled 13 cartridges.

In Germany, copies of Medal Of Honor: Frontline had to be reprinted because there was a swastika on the back cover. The developers also had to go back into the game and take out all the Nazi flags and other paraphernalia.

More German censorship, this time Command And Conquer: Red Alert. Hitler (who is key to the plot) was removed from the intro cutscene, and all the soldiers were replaced with cyborgs.

im done now :) sorry for spamming

  8. The crazy german from Shi no Numa, Der Riese DLC for CoD WaW has the same voice as Nathan Drake. Also, in Uncharted 2, drake claims to have Snow Boots in Chapter 17: Moutainering, when those are actually Jungle Boots, Train Boots, Urban Boots and Shangri-la boots, as he never changes shoes during the entire game. Also the shirt Nathan drake wears beneath his brown shirt is probably the same he was wearing in Uncharted 1. In the game Jurassic Park Trespasser there was no Health Meter; to the player see how much health he had left he had to look at the main character’s breast.

  9. By my calculations (and PS3trophies.org), there are currently 9298* (English) PS3 trophies out there. I have 19.4% of them.

    *Ish.

    • Wow, you calculated that? Haha ;]
Are you a member at .org? If you are, drop me a PM (Username: Parker) ;)

      • Well, Numbers helped a little. And no, I’m just a lurker over there.

      • lol so what would 2400 be as a percentage?

  10. Am I allowed to cheat and use Google?
I don’t know many gaming facts that aren’t well know :(

    • No. I didn’t use google :)

  11. .Sonic The Hedgehog isn’t only the name of Sega’s speedy mascot, but also a gene on chromosome 7 of the human genome. Well, it was until recently when the science community decided to ditch all of its ‘comedy’ names for genes. Party poopers.

  12. Matt Damon refused to appear in the recent Bourne Conspiracy game because he thought it was too violent. Not fussed by the violence in the films then, eh, Matt?

  13. .In the original Super Smash Brothers Melee, the Princess Daisy trophy had a mysterious third eye on the back of its head. Unfortunate glitch? Or something more sinister?

  14. The Little Sisters from BioShock didn’t start their life as little girls at all, but rather tiny mole-like creatures who scuttled around Rapture collecting Adam. Early concept art also shows them as retro ’50s-style robots, too. We think they made the right choice.

  15. It’s only humanly possible to press a button on a controller 16 times per second. This record was set by Toshuyuki Takahashi, a Japanese gamer.
