Sam Van Tilburgh, Lionhead’s Senior Communities and Video Manager, has revealed today that Fable III will be shown off next month in San Francisco (or at least that’s what I think SF stands for). In his earlier tweet he stated, “I’m writing storyboard summaries for two new #Fable3 videos @LionheadStudios” and when asked when we’ll be able to see the videos he replied, “videos are to come out when we show #Fable3 for the 1st time at an event next month in SF.” Pretty clear.
This rather exciting news comes just after Microsoft’s CES press release giving Fable III a Christmas 2010 release, alongside Halo: Reach and Natal. The next instalment is also largely rumoured to be fully Natal’d (I can make up phrases too, you know).

It might not be a necessity though.

If they make some of the achievements Natal necessary then it will still be a no buy.

Guess I have to pickup Fable II sometime this year then. Never played the first one though, is that a problem?

No. It is set hundreds of years in the future. The experience will be better if you have played the original, for some of the humour but the game is still pretty amazing.

the only difinite connection to the first fable game in the sequel is theresa, the sister of the hero in the first fable, she guides you through the sequel, though she does seem to have her own agenda, i have read zoe wanamaker is reprising her role as theresa for fable 3.
it’s not really necessary to have played the first game as albion seems to have changed beyond recognition from the original, only one or two places hint at the old albion, the ruins of oakvale being the most prominent, although there isn’t much left of old oakvale, thanks to a certain character.

Don’t bother with Fable 2, I got it on release day and got very bored very quickly. Don’t think I actually cleared it. You should get Fable though its a pretty damn good game. Think its on Games on Demand on XBL

It is quite fun but the main quest is quite short. If you want to get the most out of the game you will have to do the side quests.

I bought all the hype around fable II and got what turned out to be the biggest dissapointment of the year. No way im making that same mistake again.

Fable III videos… top stuff. Shall keep myself aware of upcoming trailers.
Random aside: Please, if you live in America (or more importantly, are actually American) try to appreciate that the entire world isn’t actually intimate with your states and the abbreviations that you all use. Seeing as you make up just 13% of all internet users, spare a thought and be considerate next time.
*breathes*… wow, I feel good to get that off of my chest.

No Americanisms… just, in general, all I ever see is Americans referring to their own state with just initials/abbreviations and I know plenty of people outside of America that sit there thinking “what are you on about? What do those letters mean?” and America (sadly) is a nation that doesn’t have a good understanding of the rest of the world when it comes to considering other people. I appreciate the simple reason can be down to it’s size and that it’s the only superpower left on this planet of ours. Ok, this is a mental reply for an article. We can dash into the forums if we need to.
Anyway… Fable III. Will keep my eyes peeled for goodies/trailers.
Captain Murdo – apologies.

No need to apologise. I understand where you are coming from completely.

Both Fable games were fun but I felt they both fell short of the hype, so I expect the same from III.
@bunimomike, Americans are tought to abbreviate the States and cities from a young age for postal reasons and to save time. I agree it’s inconsiderate to people who don’t understand the system to use it in global communication, but the same can be said for almost every country, or anybody who uses text messaging like imo/tbh, or regional dialog. My apologies also to the Captain for going off topic, but I didn’t want you thinking that we abbreviate because we’re intentionally inconsiderate, it’s just learned behavior.

Ah, but consideration can compensate that. For example, an ex of mine would always refer to her home town of MK but to anyone not local she’d say “Milton Keynes” as she appreciated that not everyone would understand where she was on about. Does it not make sense (to you) that there’s no way on this planet that other countries have the time to teach their children the abbreviations of America’s states?

Not remotely excited about this game. I just hope that Mr Molyneux keeps his trap shut and doesn’t over hype it (like he usually does!). I waited 2 years in anticipation of playing Fable 2 only to be dissapointed and quite frankly I couldn’t wait for it to end. Whats frustrating is they have all the right ideas but just fail to realise them. I remember when I first heard Mr M waxing lyrical about F2, he was talking about the in game economy and the fact that you could own every property in the game, also you could get married and have children and should experience all the emotions involved in this. When hearing this I thought ‘wow, that sounds amazing’, oh how wrong I was. I don’t remember feeling any emotion, apart from maybe the first time (yes the FIRST time) my pet dog got injured during battle. Trying to raise enough funds to purchase every building in the game became a chore especially when it meant you had to chop wood for 6 hours, how boring! Another thing that really annoyed me was the loading screens, surely they could have made it open world? Also the scale of the game fell far short of what I was expecting, I envisged there to be lots of dense villages/settlements with a couple of major towns similar to the scale of World of Warcraft but no just one medium town and about 4 tiny settlements. I just hope for Fable 3 that the dev team have taken some of the critism on board, and rebuilt the world from the ground up although I fear this may not be the case if its due for xmas 2010 release. Anyway rant over ta!
Now if this was the next Black & White game then I might be interested.
