According to the all-knowing font that is The Mirror, Sony and Samsung have teamed up with LOVEFiLM to provide on-demand streaming for their Bravia TV range. Extrapolating further, the paper has then decided that the service “hints at the possibility of the PS3 gaining LOVEFiLM streaming” because “LOVEFiLM will be integrated into the XrossMediaBar menus on the new Bravias” which, as our readers will know, is the same menu system as used on the PS3.
LOVEFiLM is preparing an announcement in the next few days, apparently, and although we’re 99% sure it’s not heading towards Planet PlayStation, consider this a heads-up if you’re thinking of buying a new television at least.
Thanks, w3r3w0lf.

Hmm, I’m guessing it probably wont end up on PS3 either, given that it would step on the toes of the more expensive PSN video download service.
Pity.

But the US has a PSN video service, and they will be getting Netflix streaming added to the XMB at some point in the future.
So it’s definitely not without precedent.

We live in an age of consumer choice… SCEA have found a way to provide consumer choice without impacting their business model – SCEE need to do the same, because if they don’t then I can think of once company who would love a LoveFilm logo on their console’s advertising.

Wow. Now I have to choose whether to get a 3d bravia or the love film one? Or maybe they will be on the same thing! Sweet! Although, saying this, I do have the Pstore video shop and they do pretty good rentals there anyway, so…

Hope so, the US have Netflix along with the video service – so why can’t we have LoveFilm along with the video service?
There are business reasons against it but SCEA have overcome those to provide consumer choice, let’s see if SCEE can do the same

I know Lovefilm already to a streaming service on their website but the selection of films was terrible and most of them were pay-per-view as well. Let’s hope they bring something similar to the US one out.

I was wondering if they had any decent films.

So who’s servers would you be streaming/downloading from? If it’s LoveFilm’s own servers then I guess the service could be very slick.

I thought it was mentioned a little while back that the PSN Video store will be coming to Bravia TV’s and SOny Laptops, so if they have this and lovefilm togerther on a TV why not on the PS3?

Would love to see LOVEFiLM on my PS3 here in Sweden. LOVEFiLM do have their service available here but i’ve not gotten around to trying it out yet.

Ooh, that would certainly push me into buying a LoveFilm subscription, I’m currently on the fence.

I had a market research email yesterday from Sony about what i’d be willing to pay for certain premium services in the uk and I can’t remember the exact wording but one of the services was movie streaming service like the netflix disc in the USA but without the disk if that makes sense, but it didn’t mention what company so that could be lovefilm?

My pants internet connection won’t handle it, but I think it’s a great idea! And as already stated, I’m sure that there is at least one other company that would be interested!
