Capcom has launched the Resident Evil 5 Gold Edition website and it is all looking very good. Planned for March the 12th, the new edition will contain Resident Evil 5 (of course), two new episodes called Desperate Escape and Lost In Nightmares, four new costumes, The Mercenaries Reunion and extra Versus characters. The Mercenaries Reunion sounds very good. In it, players are placed in a timed situation and the only way to extend your time is by racking up those kills. Sounds a bit like the old arcade games but you need kills, not coins, to keep going. The PS3 version will have all the content on disc, whereas the Xboxers will need to download the additional content using the provided voucher.
The box art has been revealed too and it definitely is very gold.
All the the extra DLC will also be made available on the PSN and Xbox Live over the coming months, in case you already have Resident Evil 5. Each new episode will be $4.99 (400 MSP) and the costume packs will be $1.99 (160 MSP).
The trailer for the new episodes is below for your viewing pleasure.

No. I think that’s for the Alternative Edition, not the Gold Edition.

So it’s probably cheaper to pick up RE5 (Standard) and then buy the extra content from the store? Pfft.

..And I take it this version will be compatible with the Motion Controller when it comes out (Via patch)?
Or will we have to buy yet another copy? “Resident Evil 5: Motion Edition” =/

Have to say I prefer the original Resident Evil 5 cover.

Already have RE5, but will definitely download these new chapters. Was already excited, but after seeing the trailer I’m even more so!
Not sure about the extra costumes though.

I’m holding out for the alternative edition (is this what its called?) with the motion stuff. Hopefully they’ll bundle the controller with it. Loved Re4 on the Wii

DLC etc is all dlc for resi5 which means you are still playing Resi5, they should just do a hd remake of Resi4 and be done with it!Or as above comments states, wait for the next Dead Space – the game that Resi5 wishes it was as good as!

Yup that’s what i was thinking, it’s still Resi 5, which has lost it’s way imo. Dead Space is the new Resi unless Resi gets a reboot.

i really didnt get into dead space. i like resident evil games and why would they re vamp it right after 4 which was the revamp?

Your lucky then that Resi 6 is a reboot in a way – cant remember a source but the creator of the series said the i had lost its way and needed to become more horror orientated. So yeah, good stuff.

I think for me what Resi4 and Dead Space had, that Resi5 did not, was atmosphere. That is a matter of taste I guess. Atonal sounds always do it for me. Take your point on the revamp of the revamp though. Played co-op with my bro and that was fun, exhillerating almost. But great co-op seems to miss the point of what makes a survival horror game, I like ‘em single player!

Resi 4 was fantastic in all areas in my view; thus Resi 5 seemed a bit lacklustre for me.
Agree that the co-op worked brilliantly though and there was plenty of incentive to keep playing it through with mates which was good fun.
