Did you win a chance to join Stryxa as they attempt to break a World Record? Chances are you didn’t, but one of TSA’s readers did! The only snag is that we’re not yet sure who has won the main prize. Whilst Kronik76 was the original winner, he couldn’t make the event so it’s now been opened up to our 3 runners-up: Embo1, PoolieMike, and DiscoChimp – whoever can respond first to Stryxa will be heading off to London’s Victoria Train Station which is hosting the World Record attempt on Wednesday, 27th January 2010, at 9 am (GMT). Embo1, PoolieMike, and DiscoChimp have all been contacted both by TSA and Stryxa’s PR, so it’s a race against time now to see who wins.
The event will comprise of 12 people playing a 24-hour marathon on FIFA 10, with the aim being to obtain the record for the World’s Longest Football Game Marathon. It’ll be adjudicated by an official Guinness representative. The 12-person team will be made up of not only TSA’s Winner, but also some as yet unnannounced members of the gaming press. Completing the lineup will be two of Europe’s top FIFA 10 players from the UK’s leading eSports organisation Team Dignitas. You can see some scary mugshots here: Arrrrrgh!
24 hours is a long old time to be playing football for. Let’s face it, Premiership Footballers get upset when they have to play two 90-minute games a week, so the participants in this event are going above and beyond. To help them attain their goal, food and drink will be available, which we’re assuming will be Isotonic drinks and bananas as befits any top athlete. And no doubt the event will use PS3s, as there’s little chance of a 360 lasting for 24 hours continuous play. Apologies: cheap digs at RROD are always funny.
There were three runners-up prizes of free access to compete in a Stryxa FIFA10 league in the near future. These will be allocated amongst the winners depending on who ends up with the main prize.
You can find out more about Stryxa on their website – if you fancy some competitive FIFA 10 action, head over and sign up!
Congratulations to all the winners and good luck to all involved in the World Record Attempt.
