Despite Mass Effect 2 only being released a week ago, less for other regions, EA have announced that the game has already shifted over 2 million units worldwide according to their internal estimates. The second outing for Commander Shepard is available for Xb0x 360 and PC and is being billed as the “first blockbuster of 2010″.
EA’s press release is filled with reminders of the game’s accolades which include 40+ perfect review scores and 30+ editor’s choice awards and Bioware’s co-founder Dr. Ray Muzyka voiced his feelings on Mass Effect 2’s success:
Mass Effect 2 is poised to be one of the biggest games of 2010. We could not be more proud of the game’s universal acclaim and early commercial success.
It has surpassed the original’s success among reviewers as Mass Effect 2 is now the Xbox 360’s second highest rated game below Grand Theft Auto IV.

I haven’t played Dragon Age but plan on buying soon for two reasons. 1) I love RPGs 2) It’s Bioware.
Bioware are one of my favourite developers and I they have magical powers when it comes to creating a RPG.

Crossing opinion with facts is dangerous, thats what comments are for… or blog posts as opposed to news articles so you did the right thing

Right, explain to me this. How is it that ME2 can sell 2 million in a week, completely eclipsing UC2 weekly sales and probably eclipsing its overall in a couple of weeks. Yes I know the the xbox community is larger therefore more potential customers, but it just completely dumbfounds me when Playstation exclusives seem to stall at retail when the likes of Halo, ME make complete killings in the first week.
By the way, this is no attack on either ME or the xbox, as I hope you should know by now. I’m just generally confused as I believe UC2 is the best game so far this generation (as do many others it seems) and as I said, it doesnt have these first week sales.

Not only is there more 360’s in the world but their owners buy more games, it’s not uncommon for multi-platform titles to have 2:1 sales ratio in the 360’s favour and there isn’t double the amount of 360’s in the wild.
Probably because the average PS3 owner has a mortgage, maybe a kid or other responsibilities and the average 360 owner lives with their parents
