Polyphony Digital don’t like rushing. It also appears, going off further delays reported overnight that they don’t really like releasing games at all, never mind rushing them.

“We think that we’ll release this game in Autumn, before Christmas, but it is not decided yet,” said SCEE’s James Armstrong in an interview with Canarias Al Dia. “GT5 is a great hope for Sony,” he continued, “a very important game for the company, which generates much income.”

Well, it might, if you ever get it out. We should clarify that the above is a translation, but it does show that the release of the game, which was originally pitched at 2009, then moved to March 2010, then delayed again, is starting to drag for Sony.

“We would like to release GT5 before Autumn,” said Armstrong, “but we think that the priority is to make this game with the best quality as possible.”

  1. Its Chinese Democracy all over again.

    • Oh god, don’t say that. I’m hoping GT5 will actually be worth the wait :D

    • Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit.

      • As in; damn you hit the nail on the head.

  2. It’s all part of their 10 year plan! :)

  3. I didn’t know there was an EU date, or is this japan?

  4. now, i am getting bored of the wait, or is it all a plot to get free’ish advertising and in the same way, creating even more hype?

  5. What makes the “delays” worse is the fact that we’ve been told before that the game is finished, and is just getting polished.
Has anyone told PD that things called patches can be installed at a later date to improve the game.
Plus can we stop with all this it’ll be out when the PS4/5 is, we’ve herd the comments may-a-time before.
But yes, another delay is frustrating, but it took GT PSP 5 years to materialise after its announcement, so we should get it this year, otherwise they’re… GAH!

  6. Fine. They’ve got enough time to add a livery editor.

This is the ONLY game I’ve been looking forward to this year. It’s running away from me.
If this game doesn’t amaze me….

  7. wasnt impressed with this title at all. demo was totally unplayable.everyone on my friends list was like wtf this is shit.. personally its shit now and itll be shit when it finally comes out unless they start from scratch which they may be doin lol.

    • you do realize the demo was to display the new updated physics engine that was built because they incorporated NASCAR, and that’s it. the graphics were not the final build, actually it was worse than prologue graphics. But the change in the physics engine from GT5P to the demo was amazing, and it’s addressed the issue i had of not being able to convey speed. now it actually looks like you’re going 150mph and not 40 all the time. I cannot wait for GT5 to launch, just hope it’s sometime this console gen..

  8. It’s their keep adding new and better things mentality. Unfortunately there is infinite things to be added and that will keep delaying the game. We don’t need 3d at launch, we don’t need head tracking at launch. that a slim margin of ppl that will actually use it. Add it after when the tech is avail to mass market. not to the slim few that likely don’t even own a ps3.

just finish off the damage engine, toss all the cars u got done and release the game. Then add fee or paid dlc later. i’m sure anyone getting gt5 will buy paid dlc down the road if it’s worth it.
