With Star Wars Episodes I – VI, Indiana Jones, Batman, Harry Potter and even Rock Band having been transformed into a video-game version of the toy of the century, it’s no surprise to hear that even more LEGO-based games are on the horizon; the next of which will return to the seemingly limit-less universe created by George Lucas.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars, which has seen a feature-length film and 2 seasons of its animated TV series, will get the Traveller’s Tales treatment when it hits shelves in “Autumn 2010″.

Some of you may be rolling your eyes at this news but judging by the press release LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars appears to have a few new tricks up its sleeve:

The game will feature brand new battle modes, giving players unique, head-to-head combat and an upgraded level builder, allowing the creation of customized bases and in-game battlefields.  Play either as a Jedi or Separatist with all-new character abilities, such as Squad command, Lightsaber slicing, Lightsaber jumps, long distance Jedi attacks and Grapple Tie-Ups, all within a new, easy-to-navigate hub.

All of The Clone Wars’ characters will be available along with a few Star Wars favourites.

The LEGO Star Wars franchise has sold over 20 million units and Activision jump on board for this newest batch of sci-fi LEGO mayhem which will be available for PS3 and Xbox 360.

  1. Actvision in unrequired sequel shocker! News at 11!

  2. Oh no not Activision

  3. If there is a prize for worst pun as a tag line, you win.

    • How dare you! ;)

  4. Lol! I’m not that surprised, I’m sure they’ll be more to come!

  5. When they say “new easy to navigate hub” does that mean they’re using one easier than the incredibly simple hub from the first games or just getting rid of that monstrosity from Lego Indiana Jones 2?

    • Agreed, I hated the hub in Indy 2. It was so hard even tryng to find the right place to actually start a level!!

      • and did you notice it took up most of the game? Twenty minutes finding the level and then it would only last five minutes.

      • They did really balls up parts of Indy 2. Don’t fix what isn’t broken.

  6. The original LEGO series games were great. Innovative, great fun and even a little daring in their search for a niche sector but, now Activision are wringing every last cent out of the series which is rapidly losing its sparkle.

    • To be fair though, this is the first one that Activision has had a hand in.

  7. It was a day one but Activisions involvement has put me off a little. I still love these games though. They don’t try to be anything other than fun. Travellers Tales are one of my favourite studios at the moment.

  8. odd that both EA and activision will now have lego games.

  9. Online mode?

  10. actually, I’ve had a look at the official press release as well as the lucasarts website, and there is no mention of activision. are you sure they are involved? I’m pretty sure it’s developed by traveller’s tales and published by lucasarts. no need for anyone else’s hand.
