PixelJunk Shooter 2 Confirmed

Fans of retro-styled infectious HD gameplay, prepare to start dancing in the streets. Q Games’ Dylan Cuthbert has confirmed that PixelJunk Shooter 2 is in development.
We always knew more PJS was coming, but up until know we thought it might be in the form of DLC. And intriguingly, it looks like the lava, water and magnetic suits will be joined with some cool fresh duds to manipulate whatever new fancy fluid dynamics the Kyoto based studio have up their sleeves. Dylan states:
“Normally sequels are just a re-hashing of the ideas in the original, but for PixelJunk Shooter we still have a ton of ideas on the drawing board and the engine has lots of potential we want to use before moving onto our next idea. It would be a waste not to use it to try out more stuff.
“We managed to put in all the ship ’suits’ that we thought up this time around but there will be a number of new suits to make use of some of the brand new ideas for fluid gimmicks you may or may not see sometime soon.”
Apart from Shooter 2, Q Games are also working on another title not part of the PixelJunk series.

This is great news. It was obvious there was going to be more after the first game, but I assumed it would just be DLC.

Agreed. PJS took it’s time coming in the first place, but the time was well spent, as the controls are just perfect. Since they don’t have to do that again they should be able to get the next one out sooner rather than later – hopefully!

Just started playing PixelJunk Shooter yesterday, bought it when it came out and somehow forgot about it. It really is an excellent little game, was playing it thinking ‘I hope there’s a sequel in the works or at least some DLC’.

Great news. Nearly lost the plot getting all the diamonds etc but loved every minute of it. Bring on the next one soon.

Same here. My only complaint was how some of the treasures were embedded in the walls in the ice levels, and the only way of finding them was random retractable-licking the walls.

Shooter was excellent and would purchase shooter 2 on release. However, what I REALLY want to see if PSP Monster on PS3, including all the new stuff. I am currently playing Monster on the PSP rather than PS3 as it’s just more fun.

Hell yes. I got a lot of enjoyment out of the first one. It was the first game i 100%:ed. It’s better that the continuation is a stand-alone title.

I haven’t bought it yes in fact I got Powerup Forever instead big deadly mistake since the game has’nt got any trophies to make it last forever. I’m doomed

Bloody awesome news (whether it was DLC or a new title). It’s been one of the most enjoyable gaming experiences from the whole of last year. Consider me a day-one-er too.
