Ubisoft’s “big reveal” is Ghost Recon: Future Soldier. Yes, the one we told you about back in December.  More info below.

Created by the guys behind Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter and the sequel, the game will feature “cutting-edge technology, prototype high-tech weaponry, and state-of-the-art single-player and multiplayer modes”.

Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Future Soldier will apparently go beyond the core Ghost Recon franchise and deliver a fresh gameplay experience, with an “unparalleled level of quality that will excite long-time fans and newcomers alike”.

Additionally, the Xbox 360 will see an exclusive multiplayer beta, entry to which is guaranteed with every copy of Splinter Cell: Conviction.

  1. Are these games ever good?

    • I tried GRAW2, and really enjoyed it, but havent tried any of the others

    • Yes. Very.

    • Na, never liked them. On paper they sound really cool but when you play them they’ve always been a bit ‘meh’ in my eyes. Horses for courses though, some people really rate the GRAW games so by all means give em a go.

    • I played GRAW2 on the PS3 and was bitterly disappointed when it kept freezing. Was also confused as to why the game seemingly went into sub-standard definition when playing on-line.

      • I believe the online and split screen multiplayer was handled by a different dev to the main game. Mine never froze though?

    • im sure they are but like all tom clancy games, they are hard as hell.

  2. In my experience the single player has been outstanding with really good options and gadgets to use. The multi player however was a bit stale. FPS games have come a long way since the last GRAW so i think they really need to re-boot the franchise to stand out from the crowd and not become another Operation Flashpoint!

  3. is there any difference between an advanced warfighter and a future soldier?
because they sound like different names for the same thing to me.
is this just not going to be a graw sequel in all but name?
mind you the graw games were pretty decent so that’s ok :)

  4. I would be much happier with a new rainbow six.

    • Yeah, me too. I loved some of the more strategic elements in the Rainbow six games, being able to plan your infiltrations in so much detail in advance was top.

I must admit I didn’t enjoy Vegas as much as the original ones though.

      • Me three.. Although a different locale to Vegas is needed I think. Saying that, Im pretty sure there are no plans for another R6 anyway, lots of rumour, but no actual plan. :(

  5. Personally I preferred the original Ghost Recon’s (prior to Advanced Warfighter Series). Those were really good. But the new ones ain’t bad either.

  6. SWEET!
Will be getting Splinter Cell on day 1 so I shall thank them for my Beta code in advance: Thank you Ubisoft.

  7. meh, no thanks. Xbox 360 exlcusive MP too….they can’t help themselves can they lol

  8. Apparently it has only been announced for Xbox 360 right now? and that Ubisoft “Aren’t ready” to reveal other platforms yet..

  9. I really hope they do a reboot with this as I felt that the graw versions were no way as immersive as the original ghost recon games. The single player campaigns felt too much as if they went for graphics,HUD and leading you by the hand showing where everything was rather than depth and variation to the gameplay. It was missing something I felt. The multiplayer was ok but tried to much to copy socom. Give us the first person view back! Or at least an option to have it. Not just a crosshair on the screen but the view with the gun. Dump all this modern HUD crap. Go old school with intel through radio comms not bloody flashy diamonds and other markers. Let the player think for themselves and work out situations. Sick of having my hand all the time.

  10. I really like the PC versions of Ghost Recon, although it went downhill a bit with GRAW, hopefully this will be better..

  11. Already have Conviction ordered so that’s a nice wee bonus.
Never really played Ghost Recon games though.

  12. loved these games on ps2. Ghost Recon 1 was by far the most engaging. Leading your Two Teams into strategic battle, really good with loads of depth.

This Tom Clancy games [imo] seem to worsen wth age. Splinter Cell was brillant as was 2 but the rest sucked ass.

Although Rainbow Six Vegas 2 is really good so i may be wrong……

  13. I love playing GRAW 2 on my 360 with co op and online battles, even had a clan war oh boy great times they were, mind you I still play evey now and then. I’m so looking forward for the next GRAW :) I can’t wait

  14. 360 to get exclusive beta?!? Why oh why?

  15. GRAW2 was one of my first games for my PS3. I loved it!
