How Many Zombies?

Valve have written a rather amusing blog post entitled “Don’t worry, we’ll make more” and it contains one hell of a statistic.

Since the game’s release in the latter part of last year Left 4 Dead 2 players have slaughtered over 28,981,249,043 zombies. That’s right; well over 28 BILLION zombies. Dead. Valve released some accompanying statistics to put that figure into perspective so we thought we’d try to come up with some too.

• If you started counting now, it would take you just short of 919 years to reach that number
• If that number represented miles, you could travel to the Sun and back approximately 153 times
• If you stacked 28,981,249,043 copies of L4D2 they would stand 434,718,735.645 meters high
• If Bill Gates gave a dollar for every zombie killed, he would still have over $20 billion to his name.

It doesn’t look like there will be a shortage of zombies anytime soon so keep on squishing, hacking, decapitating and romancing dicing.
