Although we’d already confirmed that the next games in the Saints Row and Red Faction series were coming, THQ’s CEO, Brian Farrell, has locked both games down for a big E3 reveal, so we won’t have to wait too long.
“I think we’re going to blow people away at E3,” said Farrell, speaking to IGN. You’ll be seeing Saints Row 3. You’ll be seeing the next Red Faction.”
The two Saints Row games were a blast, providing a lighthearted alternative to the straight faced Grand Theft Auto series, and another Red Faction is welcome round these parts – especially if it goes back to the FPS viewpoint.

Can’t wait to see what Red Faction 4 will be one of my greatest FPS I’ve played

If Red Faction 4 is anything like Guerilla it will make me wet myself out of pure joy. The physics were amazing. Now optimize the engine even more to allow coop play and/or ground destruction. Coop would be the one improvement I would choose from these two. This game was just insane fun from start to finish. I loved the third person view. It really helped let you see the massive destruction that was going on…

100% agree KeRaSh , i got this used for £12 a couple of weeks ago and its bloody fantastic . I even enjoy the 3rd person shootouts with the EMF or whatever the bad guys are called .
This is such a great great game , I also picked up Saints Row 2 on the same day and thats a blast too . Anyone without these 2 games you owe it to yourselves to get them especially as they are dirt cheap now .

Red faction: Guerilla was a hell of a lot of fun. Hopefully, they’ll optimize the engine better on this installment.

I will be interested in Saints Row 3 if Rockstar don’t lighten up a little with their storylines and characters. Oh, and tighten up the awful driving in GTA4.

it was just more grown up story wise, I feel it was a great story line. no problem with the cars in my opinion.

then change the camera settings?

I felt the same about the driving, it needs to be tight especially in a game like GTA but for me the camera was a bit of a pain at times which didn’t help the driving either.

Changing Red Factions format from FPS to a “fun” ,explosive gimmicking, GTA mimicking TPS did nothing for a series which was once on a par with Half Life imo.
Ok so everybody likes to blow stuff up but they could have made a new IP with that gameplay, and continued the Red Faction series properly. Here’s hoping…

Probably why they called it RF Guerilla and not RF 2. I’d be happy either way. If it’s a proper RF 3 I’d still like to see a Guerilla-esque sequel somewhere down the road.

really looking forward to those 2 games!
SR2 was a very good and fun title (way better then GTA IV IMO).
RFG was the best game off 2009 IMO!
My E3 this year is already a success with those 2 games, Volition is a very good dev and together with THQ I respect them the most!

I liked SR2 better than IV as well… I didn’t really get in to RFg I just kept getting killed so didn’t persevere

you could try it again at a lower difficulty setting ;)
because it is a really good game! but I understand your problem, got the same with KZ2, started at hard and got killed to many times so I didn’t bother playing it a second time.

The final battle driving that tank up the hill to reach the top was very tough for me, up until that point in the game I could manage but not so that last part. Had to reduce the difficulty in the end. Top game though, Have high hopes for RF4.

Red Faction needs a return to the FPS genre. If it keeps the gameplay of the second, with the geomod of the first, obviously all enhanced to next gen levels then I will be happy.
Nothing better than digging a tunnel to add an extra dimension to muliplayer.

I’ve many classic memories of doing that with friends with local multiplayer [note THQ: LOCAL multiplayer]. You could make your own bases .etc, brilliant, just brilliant.

Christ I must have missed RF2 somewhere, gave up on the first one as I couldn’t do the stealth bit with the elevator in the first game!
