Heavy Rain won’t see an official release in the United Arab Emirates, as the game has been banned there by the UAE’s National Media Council (NMC).  Sony, understandably, has stuck by its game and questioned the ban.

“Heavy Rain has an 18+ PEGI rating and has been conceived from the earliest stages as a genuinely adult experience,” says the publisher. “This means that it deals with strong content including blood and nudity, but treats this content in a mature and sensitive manner.”

“The game is not intentionally controversial or sensationalist, and all the themes and content are consistent with what consumers would expect to see in a mainstream Hollywood thriller. ”

I agree.  The ban appears overly sensitive to me, and it’s my opinion that whilst Sony’s genre-defining thriller does delve into ‘adult’ areas, and not always successfully, it is labeled as such and a blanket ban seems harsh.
