PS3 Gets Mame, NES Emulation

38

The ZeroGameProject comes alive.

Published: 8:15, 26/02/2010 by Staff.

The website is currently getting hammered more than TSA on a Thursday, but the labour of love of the ZeroGameProject is well worth checking out if your PS3 is Linux equipped, specifically Yellow Dog Linux 6.2 (it won’t work on other installations).

Essentially, the ZeroGameProject is a way to play classic games on your PS3 via the magic of emulation.  With a pretty front end screen, decent scaling algorithms and support for masses of consoles, this really is retro heaven.

ZeroGameProject, via Wahcade, supports the Commodore 64, Gameboy (classic, Advance and Color) , Sega Genesis/MegaDrive, MAME, NES, SNES and the Wonderswan, and allows multiple players on the one system (although only two can be wireless).

The current version can be downloaded from here (you’ll need some basic Linux knowledge) and is free.

Thanks, GC.

Although this emulator is running on an open platform and plays legal ROMs and homebrew, TheSixthAxis does not condone piracy.  To our knowledge, the ZeroGameProject package does not contain any copyrighted ROMs.
