Unlike some other PSP games that merely flaunt their CGI cut-scenes as part of their promotional advertisements, Hideo Kojima has been quite vocal on his twitter account about how the ads for upcoming PSP exclusive Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker will actually use in-game footage. He has also been quite anxious about the whole prospect, for obvious reasons. As he states in one tweet:

“Unlike the PS3 and 360, the PSP does not have immense power in graphics. For this reason, it is hard to strategize a plan against next gen consoles with trailers displaying high-res gameplay footage. Most PSP trailers and commercials end up relying on CG rendering and animations. Contrary to that… we are planning to show PW gameplay.”

The first of these trailers has now appeared on the web (embedded below), and we have to say that we are pleasantly impressed. Not that Kojima-san is, of course, as it would appear that the ad in question was not meant for public consumption just yet, and when the respected director donned his headband and started to infiltrate the source of the “leak”, he found the culprit to be none other than Jiro-san, one of his own PR guys. Kojima-san bawls him out:

“Jiro (Kojipro PR) did it again. PW’s “teaser commercial” was getting around the net and I was in dismay. I looked for the origin and it ended up originating from our Kojipro blog. Jiro, are you out of your mind!? I never gave you permission to upload this!”

Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker is out this May in Europe. Probably now supported by one less PR guy than originally planned.
