There’s no doubt that Pandemic Studios had a chequered existence back when it was an active studio. For every Star Wars: Battlefront there was a Lord of the Rings: Conquest – a game that was obviously rushed out the Gates of Mordor, stumbling on its Ringwraith coat-tails, and just before the IP reverted back to Warner Bros. Regardless, we’re always saddened when studios shut down.
So, it’s with a happy disposition that we can report that a number of ex-Pandemaniacs have been picked up by Globex (not to be confused with Globo-Gym of Dodgeball fame) and have now formed a new LA based studio.
Benjamin Chow, Globex’s CEO, said:
“By putting together this highly creative international team, we are bringing together the highly sophisticated gameplay of a western game with the unique social gameplay of a Chinese MMO – effectively delivering engaging game play experiences that reach broad consumer demographics on a global scale.”
Globex currently have offices in the Far East with a history of developing MMO titles that focus on the Asian market.
