It has been revealed today that Modern Warfare 2 has now hit 25 Million players across all formats.
Tweeting away on his Twitter account, Community Manager Rob Bowling revealed the news,
…annnd we JUST hit 25 MILLION unique players on Modern Warfare 2. Insanity! Also, got a lot of #MW2 DLC details coming this week! FINALLY.
He said before continuing,
That’s 25 million unique across all platforms. Most on Xbox 360, then a close 2nd goes to PS3, [with] millions more on PC.
It’s pretty impressive stuff for a game which, while it has its critics, proves that it has plenty of fans too. Of course as you can see from the quote, Bowling also revealed that some new details regarding the DLC will also be revealed next week, therefore we are sure that some of those 25 Million fans out there will be sitting up paying attention when that happens.
Let us know if you are one of those 25 million players and tell us why you love Modern Warfare 2 so much.

I’m one of those players.
I think I’m addicted to it. Not sure why as online can be annoying as hell, but its still a great feeling to get that sweet headshot or killstreak.
Bought Heavy Rain last week and it still hasn’t left the wrapper…

Wanted "Trophy Hunter" but was too late.

Shame on you! Heavy Rain is brilliant and make sure you play it on it’s hardest setting, it makes the quicktime events truly hard and fun :)

good game – although i find Killzone 2 untouchable. Online is so much more atmospheric, KZ2 requires more skill as oppose to just running and popping on mw2.
just my opinion really….

i agree, if i want to waste ten mins then i can have a quick blast a mw2, i wont trade it in because it will keep me entertained for short bursts, unlike bfbc2 or killzone, which need a good 30+ mins to complete a whole game

bad company 2 and killzone 2 are easily better games, but i agree mw2 is better in quick blasts :)

I was one of those millions, but then left because I found the game completely unbalanced and full of glitches/bugs and permanent lag. KZ2 and BFBC 2 in my opinion are much better, it’s just a shame the kiddies don’t bother trying them. Actually it’s probably best they don’t lol

Definitely agree with you on this one. Although I would like the kids to realize MW2 isn’t the be all and end all of games, I don’t really want them on BFBC2 and KZ2, trying to bring MW2 style of play. That’s one of the reasons I prefer these games because you cant just rush in all guns blazing, well most of the time anyway :)
They should have an adults only online mode, where in order to play there’s voice analysis system. :)

I agree and disagree.
I agree that KZ2 is better than MW2
I disagree with your opinion that: It’s a shame that the kiddies don’t bother with it. I’m glad the kiddies don’t bother with it. Apart from KZ2 being a far better game (IMO) an added bonus is the clientele that play.
They’ve got MW2 and Halo ODST.

To be honest, there aren’t as many kids on Halo anymore these days.

i was on Halo yesterday for a hour and knocked it off because of screaming kids lol but i agree an adult only mode would be fun

Good to see some DLC news. I am interested to see what they do, and if it will be reasonably priced.

Meh, sick of COD and reskined FPS’s in general, FF XIII gave me my excuse to rid myself of MW2 last night, the best bit of MW2 so far is the fact I got £24 trade in for it !! :-)

Obviously that’s not active players because they haven’t sold 25m new copies of the game, so it shows it’s doing great business on the preowned shelves with the same copy changing hands many times

Do we know how many new copies of the game have been sold?

I noticed so many people seem to critisize this game for bigs/glitches. I’ve just started Unchartered 2 (Easily game of last year) and the number of bugs in this is incredible. I’ve had to restart the game about 5 times already! Things like the player being trapped between floors of a house where Drakes body is upstairs and legs dangling downstairs meaning I can’t move anymore.
Why don’t people complain about this? That said I think both games are amazing in their own right. Just feels hypocritical when people love UC2 and hate MW2 then use bugs as the issue.

Played it loads, never experienced a problem

Exactly, I hardly had any problems with MW2 (about 48 hours of play) compared with Drakes 3 hours of play.
Just worried everytime I jump into something I shouldn’t I’ll get trapped in the concrete! Very shocked at the quality for such a highly rated game, while I expected so little of MW2 based on public opinion.

No bugs here at all. Only glitch I found was that I couldn’t undress Chloe. Although, maybe Naughty Dog should give it to the Japanese for UC3. 8-)

I experienced bugs and glitches on both, mostly Drake stuck in a falling animation at some points. Just seems to be a lot of snobbery about when it comes to MW2. Cos /everyone/ is above it.

I’ve managed about 120 hours on MW2 and the only real bug I have noticed are the occasions where my gun’s bullets have been swapped for rubber pellets of shit. I manage to empty about 20 shots into someone only for him to turn round and kill me with 1.

Yes I suppose its annoying when that happens, although i admit i’ve been on the other side as well. you never hear me complain those times :-)
