A scan of the latest Nintendo Power Magazine has shown off some new screens from Sonic 4 Episode 1, as well as revealing some new details about the game.
The magazine has an interview with Sonic legend and lead designer, Takashi Lizuka who has previously worked on titles such as Sonic & Knuckles and Sonic The Hedgehog 3.
Some of the information revealed during the interview was:
Other sections in the magazine also reveal that Dr Robotnix will use new attacking techniques once you hit him three times and in later stages of the game Day will turn to Dusk.
It all sounds pretty promising stuff, and we can’t wait till it’s released this June.

“No more gimmicks. No more friends. Sega’s mascot gets back to basics” brilliant.

Day turns into dusk?
What if they’re building up for another episode when dusk turns to night?
Night can only mean: Werehog!!
On a more realistic note: I’m really excited for this! The downloadable format fits Sonic perfectly.

I always hated that word. You know ‘were’ comes from the olde English meaning man so a werewolf is literally a ‘man wolf’.
A werehog would be a man/hedgehog not a hedgehog/wolf! Sonic should have been a hogwolf or wolfhog.
Sorry, irrelevant rant over

Does anyone else still get slightly freaked out by Nintendo Power featuring stories about Sega characters.
I just feel uneasy about Sega and Nintendo not still being at war

Haha I was thinking that too.
Seems very strange indeed, though it may be me and my memories being stuck in the early 90′s !

Oh, I’ve just said this.
Good comment reading skills eh? Anyway, yes, I do. I can’t wait for the day when Sega re-enter the home console market and blow all your Sony and Microsoft fanboys away with their awesomeness.

Much as I’d love to see Sega back in the console race, I don’t think it’s likely. They burned their bridges and the skies are now too congested to try flying.
Wow, that was one stretched analogy

But they’d be gorgeous bright blue skies filled with fluffy white clouds.
It’s totally wishful thinking, I know, but I used to love Sega more than football stickers when I was 12.

I was Nintendo through and through! NES, SNES and N64. PS2 was my first non-Nintendo console and having played with the Wii, looks like a jumped ship at the right time. Megadrive was the last good console Sega made until the Dreamcast but that came after the 32X, SegaCD and Saturn had ruined Sega’s reputation.
Despite that, Sonic was the one game (franchise) I was truly jealous of on my friend’s Megadrive

I already said yesterday that the PS3 is just a holding machine until SEGA get their act together to release a Dreamcast II with a cart slot for Megadrive compatibility.
How hard can it be to make a PC based console so as to attract developer support (like the 360) but with a Blu-ray drive… I reckon even I could do it.

I was thinking exactly the same thing. Hope times change eh. Who knows in 15 years time we may have the creator of Natal being interview by the offical playstation magazine

2D sidescroller with 3D character models I believe. Essentially the old 2D Sonic games with a fresh HD look.
Can’t wait for the game myself; Sonic back to basics will be awesome!

Was anyone else actually a bit annoyed that Sonic is such a big feature in a Nintendo magazine?
I mean, everyone knows that Sonic is too good for the SNES right? RIGHT?
Christ, I miss my Megadrive.
