The creator of Final Fantasy, Hironobu Sakaguchi has been using twitter to say what he thinks of God of War 3 and it seems like his thoughts are a bit of a mixed bag.
It all started when he tweeted regarding the opening sequence when he said,
A long opening movie. It’s nicely done, but you don’t need this. It’s movie-like, but you don’t need long openings in games.
That wasn’t the end of the criticism as later on he also tweeted,
Naturally, I started on Easy Mode. A Lord of the Rings-like fortress. A real time scene? You can’t skip this??? That’s annoying. The graphics are, as expected, nicely done.”
Thankfully the Final Fantasy man did have some good things to say about the game though, as later he tweeted in English,
Sorry, my English is poor. lol Now I’m playing GoW3 and write some comments. This is good game !!
So there we go, despite some criticism it seems that Mr Sakaguchi has plenty of praise for God of War III too, although you do have to wonder why the creator of Final Fantasy (isn’t the game just one long cutscene?) is complaining about cinematics? You can’t please everyone I guess.
Thanks Andriasang

LOL. That was deliciously ironic coming from the maker of a game whose middle name is “cut scene”. Isn’t that GOW3 cut scene unskippable because it pre-loads or pre-installs while it’s playing? If so, Sakaguchi could probably take a lesson from that.

Why should he take a note? They both have no HDD install and I’d much rather have the game load 10 seconds and then skip a 5 minute cut scene instead of no loading and not being able to skip a 5 minute cut scene which I already watched during my first playthrough.

WTF?
Is he taking the piss – This man is responsible for long openings – and long middles and long ends, half of his games are little more than a 40hr cutscene.
hopefully he’s been mis-quoted or he’s made himself look the biggest dick in gaming

You aren’t alone, I was in Game buying Metro 2033 yesterday and the guy at the counter I dealt with was bemoaning the fact that they had sold so few copies.

I swear the intro of FFXIIIIIII is like 30 hours? What is this man on about! Some slight hypocritisism here…

Actually Sakaguchi-San was fired from Square Enix after the film flop that was Final Fantasy: Spirits Within. The last Final Fantasy he had a part in was either X or X-2, I think, either way he was long gone before XII came out, let alone XIII.

And it really was downhill from there, FFXIII still has something missing, XII was gash, and although the story still had me hooked X-2 was guff an all !

Didn’t GoW install in the opening vid? Or am I imagining things?

A cheeky comment to make considering the 20 hour introduction to FFXIII – which i’ve given up on as the enjoyment evaporated several hours into the game.
I haven’t gotten GoWIII yet but i got a sweet deal yesterday .. american GoW collection bluray for only €15! Woop! :b

Don’t get him confused with the creator of Final Fantasy XIII. He didn’t see that happening to his legendary series.

Why are long cinematics such a bad thing? Providing they’re done well, aren’t filler and add something to the story I have no issue with them.
GoWIII’s beginning in paticular is mindblowingingly epic.

Wasn’t the first 25 hours of FFXIII one big intro?
He’s right of course. Oh, no.
