Titan Books has just published two official Dragon Age prequel novels, and after we wrestled their pet dragon – Jasper* – into submission, they offered us three copies of each book as competition prizes. If you enjoyed the fantastic Dragon Age: Origins, then you’ll probably be interested in getting your mitts on these lovely books. Here are some handy bits of info, presented in wordy form so as to familiarise you with the processes required for enjoyment of the prizes.
Dragon Age : The Calling
After 200 years of exile King Maric has allowed the legendary Grey Wardens to return to Fereden. Their arrival brings news that one of their own has escaped into Deep Roads and aligned himself with their ancient enemy, the monstrous darkspawn.
Maric agrees to help the Grey Wardens, leading them into the passages he traveled through many years before, chasing after a deadly secret that threatens to destroy not only the Grey Wardens but also the kingdom above.
Dragon Age : The Stolen Throne
After his mother, the beloved Rebel Queen, is betrayed and murdered by her own faithless lords, young Maric becomes the leader of a rebel army attempting to free his nation from the control of a foreign tyrant. His countrymen live in fear; his commanders consider him untested; and his only allies are Loghain, a brash young outlaw who saved his life, and Rowan, the beautiful warrior maiden promised to him since birth.
Surrounded by spies and traitors, Maric must find a way to not only survive but achieve his ultimate destiny: Ferelden’s freedom and the return of his line to the stolen throne.
Sounds good, yes. So, what do you need to do to win?
Well, as this is a rather special prize we thought the competition ought to reflect that. So, to win, you have to send TSA your best Dragon story in 50 words or less. The story has to be dragon-based, but does not have to be about Dragon Age itself. The three best stories as judged by Michael will win one copy of each book.
Email comp [at] thesixthaxis [dot] com with your 50-words-or-less dragon-based story, putting dragon in the subject line and remembering to include your TSA ID too. It’s very important you do this, because otherwise your entry won’t count. The competition is open to UK residents only and is also subject to our usual Terms and Conditions. The closing date is 22:00 on 02/04/2010. Winners will be notified via email after the closing date.
* Jasper was not harmed in the wrestling. TSA, however, suffered burns, scaldings, and singed eyebrows: It was worth it to bring another great competition to you guys.
