To be perfectly honest I’m not exactly the most stylish guy in the world. Jeans with holes in, a t-shirt and a zip hoodie are pretty much all I wear unless I’m going somewhere formal. In those situations I have exactly one grey suit. However today’s discussion isn’t about my awful taste in clothing, it’s time to look at the best and worst dressed of gaming world.

Of course the classic in gaming wear is Mario. His red jumper with blue dungarees may be practical for wearing to plumbing jobs and has certainly become iconic, but it’s hardly the most stylish getup to wear whilst saving the mushroom kingdom is it? He’s been wearing the outfit for a while, maybe it’s time for a change. Even a new set of dungarees would be worthwhile.

At the complete other end of the scale we have one of our most modern heroes, Nathan Drake. His rugged, unshaven face is a clear attempt to try and portray him as the everyman, a look that’s set off by his dirty jeans and typically untucked shirt. I guess in a way he’s the modern version of Mario to some extent, trying to portray him as a ‘relatively’ normal guy in a crazy situation. Of course the normality that Drake’s character is relative to is a vastly different affair to the world most of us live in. Compared to actual pirates I suppose Drake is pretty normal.

Then you have the characters who dress outside of the normal, the Master Chiefs and the Marcus Fenixs. On the one hand they’re hardly dressed in average way, on the other hand at least they’re dressing for the occasion. I mean you’d think by now that Mario or even Drake would be fairly aware of what kind of situations are likely to aware and would wear some kind of armour, or at least some kneepads.

So who’s your pick for the best dressed character? Or the worst dressed? Do you prefer characters in their casual clothes, or should they dress more appropriately for the situation?
