Codemasters, most famous for Operation Flashpoint, DiRT and GRiD, have announced that Reliance Big Entertainment have acquired a 50% share of the company.
Zapak Digital Entertainment, the games division of Reliance Big Entertainment, will oversee the partnership. The India-Based company already provides hundreds of online games via their website and are also looking to take advantage of their position within the mobile gaming world.
Codemasters, who were facing an uncertain future, are welcoming the new deal. CEO Rod Cousens said:
This is great news for our development and publishing teams. Reliance and Zapak have immense resources and will help us realise the full potential of our game coding and online excellence across so many platforms, and especially in the world’s fastest growing markets…The future of Codemasters has never looked brighter. It’s a whole new game!
Codemasters are currently working on a much-anticipated Formula One game which is due for release later on in the year. Being the second largest sport in the world makes this title in particular a “significant attraction” for Reliance.
