We exclusively revealed that Namco were bringing Demon’s Souls to Europe on Wednesday, and today they’ve confirmed the news, marking June 25th as the date you’ll be able to get your hands on the special “Black Phantom Edition” of the hardcore Japanese action role player.
The special edition, which will be limited for Europe (as you’d expect), will include the soundtrack, artbook and strategy guide, pretty much like the collectors edition of the American release. Namco are stressing that the release will be a small one though, so pre-order today.
“We’re very pleased to be working with SCEI to bring the fantastic Demon’s Souls to gamers outside of Japan and North America,” said Namco’s Oliver Comte, VP of Marketing, Sales and Publishing. “We will be working hard to ensure it’s at least as much of a success in our markets as it has already proven to be elsewhere.”
So, when Sony decide not to release a game, thank goodness that Namco are up for the job. As we’ve said before, Demon’s Souls is a really great game, although it’s one slightly dulled by the recent news that the Japanese market is to expect a sequel. Still, it’s well worth purchasing.
