Back in March, Alistair Darling introduced tax breaks for the UK Games Industry - a move that was applauded by all within the industry and a move that was somewhat of a surprising U-turn for the current Chancellor.

Whilst this is an excellent move in the right direction it is likely to be a while before these breaks actually start to take effect.

The Liberal Democrats today released a statement to TIGA – the UK’s trade association representating the Games Industry – that not only do they support the introduction of tax breaks for this particular field but that they would “implement the relief as soon as possible”.

As TIGA’s CEO, Richard Wilson, points out, all of the three main parties have now recognised the UK Games Industry as a worthy development sector and beneficial to this country’s economy.
