In America, Your PS3 Is Safe

Continous Play might well be dead over here, but over the pond it looks like Sony are planning to protect your Playstation with the, er, PlayStation Protection Plan.  Catchy, guys, I’m digging your flair.

“For those of you looking for a little extra peace of mind, we’re now offering an extended service plan for the PlayStation 3 (PS3) and PSP (PlayStation Portable) systems that is backed by SCEA and leverages our technical expertise,” said SCEA’s John Koller.

“Under the new program, PS3 and PSP owners in the United States can purchase an extended service plan of one or two years that begins after the original one-year manufacturer’s limited warranty expires.”

Looks like guaranteeing your PS3 will cost you $44.99 for an extra year, although the rate drops considerably if you take out two.  You’ll need to take out the plan within the first 12 months of ownership, though, and the PSP accidental damage security must be signed up for in the first 30 days.

Additional details here.

Thanks KamokaziUK, Mike.
