THQ has just bared all with its fiscal results for the last year, and the figures look great. Citing a loss of $9 million compared to last year’s loss of over $430 million is quite the turnaround, and next year the publisher / developer is hoping to make a profit, according to Gamasutra.
In terms of game sales, THQ have shifted over 4 million copies of both of their current fighting titles (UFC and WWE) and say that sales of Red Faction and Darksiders were good, although specific numbers weren’t mentioned. In addition, the Metacritic average for core THQ games has climbed from 80 last year to 82 this.
“We have streamlined our cost structure,” said CEO Brian Farrell, “which will provide us with increased operating leverage in our model as our business continues to grow.” THQ is now ranked as the fourth biggest independent publisher in the US, with a 4.9% market share based on NPD data.
