Former Codemasters chief executive Nicholas Wheelwright has been accused of poaching employees from Codemasters and thus their knowledge of trade secrets and confidential information. A High Court write issued on behalf of Codemasters alleges that Playground Games have employed 15 ex-Codies in attempt to give them a head start in racing games market.
‘Those employees constituted a ready-made top-rate racing games development team. Between them they had some 100 years of experience in creating, developing and producing first-class computer racing games,’ the writ says.
Codemasters say that by poaching the staff it allowed Playground to present itself to Sega and Microsoft as a business ‘with substantial experience.’
