MCV are reporting that Richard Branson is set to revive the Virgin Games brand at this year’s E3.
Virgin Games used to be a powerful name in the games industry and was even responsible for bringing SEGA’s Master System to us Europeans at one stage. When it became Virgin Interactive Entertainment it proved tough competition for the likes of EA before eventually being bought by Viacom.
Virgin Games was brought back in 2004, dealing with prize-based online gaming websites, but the rumoured reveal at E3 is expected to detail plans to partner with major publishers and content owners to provide “new and unique” opportunities.
MCV are also reporting that this new venture will be purely based online but that it will run across all of the console formats via services like Xbox Live and PlayStation Network.
