FIFA may have held strong for 3 weeks, beating off competition from Alan Wake and Lost Planet 2, but not even stock shortages could fend off Red Dead Redemption’s inevitable entry to the top of the All Formats chart.

It’s one of four new entries with Disney’s Split/Second claiming 5th place, Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands claiming 9th place and Sony’s ModNation Racers claiming 10th place. But how has all of this affected the individual charts?

UK PS3 Chart: Week ending 22nd May

So Red Dead Redemption takes the top spot with ModNation Racers debuting at number 3, Split/Second at number 4 and Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands at number 6. Making room for these 4 new titles has caused casulties, God of War III, Final Fantasy XIII, Super Street Fighter IV and Yakuza 3 all slip from the top 10.

UK Xbox 360 Chart: Week ending 22nd May:

Red Dead Redemption has seen even greater success on the Xbox 360 with over two thirds of total copies sold belonging to Microsoft’s console. Alan Wake slips to 2nd place while Split/Second debuts at number 5 and Prince of Persia debuts at number 9.

Red Dead Redemption’s first week sales are enough to rank it at no.11 in terms of best ever weekly sales, based on GFK’s chart. There have been some stock shortages of the PS3 version of the game but if this is rectified soon we could see sales of Rockstar’s latest sandbox game rising further.
