Siliconera have picked up (as they tend to do) on a new trademark filed by Sony – PlayView. Unlike most recent Sony marks, this one’s not just a game, the registration teases PlayView can be related to portable electronic devices, an online e-book store and publishing over the internet.
Chances are that PlayView is an e-book reader application for the PSP, then, although the filing also mentions video games, retail services and information about computer games, suggesting that if it’s not for books, it’s probably a portable version of something like FirstPlay – giving PSP owners the chance to read and watch about upcoming PlayStation games.
Or, as the source wildly speculates, it’s the PSN Premium’s “try before you buy” service. Doubt it.
