Sony isn’t all about E3 this year, although we’re still expecting some shockers next week.  To further distance themselves from throwing everything into one basket, there’s a special 3D press conference going on right now in the States.

There’s no official outlet for the conference, yet, but GTTV’s Geoff Keighley is tweeting from the show.  “At Sony for a special press conference with Sir Howard Stringer and Jack Tretton on Sony’s 3D strategy,” he said an hour back.

The skinny?  Jack Tretton says the PS3 has 5% more owners connected to HDTVs than the 360, Sony is releasing 20 3D titles this fiscal year for PS3, and PlayStation Move games will support 3D from the off, including launch title The Fight.

We’ll update if anything else pops out.

  2. 5% more is interesting, although I wonder what the actual percentages for HDTV connection are.

    • The price point of the 360 throughout practically its whole life has assisted it probably into more bedrooms than the PS3 where there is more chance of the TV not being HD.

But it would be really interesting to hear what the actual HDTV penetration is and break it down by territory I get the impression that Japan would have highest ratio of hdtvs and Sony is a million times stronger in japan than MS… That could be the difference
