SCEE have just let us know that, as from tomorrow, the PS3 is officially 3D, with the publisher releasing the first stereoscopic 3D titles onto the console, “giving gamers a whole new perspective and a new way to experience some of their favourite titles.”

The first batch of games, WipEout HD, SuperStardust HD, PAIN and an exclusive single level demo of MotorStorm: Pacific Rift will be available for just 29.99 Euro / £23.99, downloadable from PlayStation Store or free as part of a Sony Bravia 3D TV package.

“Whether you’re after the thrill of the race or an intergalactic battle,” says the press release, “the stereoscopic 3D Collection will let you step into the game and be at the centre of the action.”

    • I does look like the amount of interested parties at the moment is very small doesn’t it.

For Sony especially to be pushing this so hard it just shows you how much money they feel they can make out of it. At the moment, for me anyway, it’s just another bandwagon that manufacturers hope we’ll all jump on… Will be interesting to see how many developers really push the technology and start integrating it properly into their products, rather than just patching older games.
