Another "D" might mean extra beauty.

Oh look, it’s the start of E3 week so we’re all up way past midnight reporting on stuff as it filters out from Los Angeles. Well, in this case it’s filtering out of USA Today via GAF.

Crysis 2, the sequel to what is still considered by many to be the most beautiful PC game yet created, is going 3D. Not old-fashioned 3D (which we’re going to have to find a new name for – I suggest “polygonal”) but newfangled, eye-strainingly deep 3D. This is a big push for Sony at this year’s Expo but it seems that the big black monster won’t be alone in getting some extra dimensional augmentation. The USA Today piece says that Crysis 2 is promising to be the first major game available in 3D on all three HD platforms.

The article also mentions the advancement of social networking tools within games so soon we might be seeing tweets that inform us when someone has started playing Crysis 2, in how many dimensions they’re viewing it and whether or not they’re using a proper controller or waving their arms about in front of “Kinect”. Whoop, I can’t wait.
