Kinect Launches This November

Microsoft unveiled a string of Kinect games during their press conference. I’m fairly certain I’ve seen most of them in some form before for the Wii or EyeToy, but that’s for another time.

What most people wanted to know was when we can get our hands on Kinect and for how much.

Microsoft announced Kinect will be released worldwide this November starting on November 4th in US. No other specific dates were announced and disappointingly Microsoft didn’t announce a price.

I wonder if they’re waiting to see what Sony do first.

  1. cant wait for this because of all those hardcore games, oh wait…

  2. I already have games quite similar available on my Wii and PS3. I am not interested in Kinect. It seems it’s main focus was user inface navigation.

Should be a laugh when they annnounce how much they want to charge us for it.

  3. I was anticipating a high price and angry crowd. looks like MS are playing it safe, new 360 ain’t too bad though. sorry MS try harder! maybe some big stuff at activision and EA?

    • I can’t think of any way for MGS Rising to work with Kinect without the player looking like a dick. Would/should be much better with Move. You’ll still look like a dick, but will feel awesome!

It’s not a proper MGS though. 4 days until Peace Walker…

      • but that chop up just about anything gameplay looks like loads of fun.
        lucasarts take note.

  4. No price, that means we can expect it to cost 150£

150£ for a piece of hardware, which so far has shown nothing but extremely casual games. Sorry MS but you are loosing your core users.

    • Yeah that’s what i thought. At least move is showing its use in proper games.

  5. Just before x-mas but maybe after Move?

  6. I like how they say that it was ready for Kinect but it means you still have to buy it.

  7. Game Gears just tweeted they’ve got the pricing, but need to wait for MS clearance before publishing it

  8. 4th of November?! That’s very close to the new COD – out 9th.
I think that could be a very unwise decision, if this is the case.

    • Why? The press conference proved in no uncertain terms that their respective markets are poles apart. They need to tie their launch up with the Wii release schedule, not the 360/PS3 one…

  9. The conference footage was terrible – noticeable lag and noticeable instances where it did something completely different to the person on stage. The games were boring casuals mostly, and there was nothing shown that was revolutionary and very little shown that couldn’t be done today with the PS Eye – the majority of the menus used the ‘hover to select’ system used in EyeToy games and voice control and video chat is nothing new either.

Also does anyone remember EyeToy Kinetics on the PS2?

Oh and I nearly vomited watching that stage school kid pretending to have fun with her virtual Tiger, I bet she calls him Milo… EyeToy looks cuter and looks more fun too…

  10. Hey that’s my birthday! Nevertheless, I’m not going to buy it because:
    1. I do not own a Xbox360
    2. I will buy Move, and I am not able to afford Move AND Natal (I will call it Natal until the name of the image on the top left corner is changed from natalthumbs.jpg to kinectthumbs.jpg)
    3. Kevin Butler said we needed buttons to play FPS and Platforms
    4. VP Kevin Butler said he went to the future and move was bought by everyone.
    5. Kevin Butler said I wasn’t in third grade, and therefore I must not use my hands as weapons.
    .
    Nevertheless, kinect looks pretty cool.
