Me too. I’ve put 2 psn cards to one side (which cost me £32 in total) to pay for the years subscription. Seems a good deal to me at under £3 a month.
I’m already eyeing up some of the discounts too and dynamic themes. I’d rather pay to have access to content than how cross game chat on online play, I would pay extra for some games to add split screen support.

Cross game chat.
Please understand this simple fact!
Microsoft own patents to this idea of cross game chat.
If Sony did do it they they will have pay Microsoft lots and lots of money (Billions) and probley be forced by the court to remove it. Also they will be forced stop selling PS3 or shut down PSN in USA while the feature is available on PS3.
So do you really think Sony going do that then?

I don’t want it so that wouldn’t both me.
To suggest it would cost Sony billions is silly. Sony could easily implement a form of it. Rumble and analogue sticks had patents but Sony found ways round that. Sony has patents for EyeToy but Kinect gets round that. Microsoft have patents for Live but the PSN exists.
If ever was an issue in the USA with cross game chat patents they would simply limit access to outside the USA. It’s not difficult.

Just to add a bit more weight to my point, many have suggested that Sony could implement in-game skype which would not infringe on the MS cross game chat patent.

Jimmy-google yes they found a way to implement rumble, by buying the company that had the patent :P At least i think so…

Shame I have most of the good stuff already… but a nice load of stuff for those who dont.

I agree. However since it’s only ~£3 a month it seems worth it since, for me at least, it looks like there will always be something I do want.

Same here, got most of the games already.
I suppose it’s a tricky balancing act for Sony, trying to push the best stuff on the PSN to make it an attractive service but, for a large number of people who may be interested, they already own half the content.

I have most of that stuff which is a shame, but im in anyhow.

There’s nothing in there that I’m interested in, or don’t have already. I feel this is a bad plan by Sony; they need to make the content of PS+ relevant to everyone every month, and this just isn’t the case.
I appreciate what they’re doing, choosing a broad selection of content to cover all tastes, but I think they need to make it a more user-defined experience. Perhaps they could offer several titles for free, but you can only download 2? Apply Push to the Store so whatever you add to your basket gets pushed?
The value for money here is great without question, but for those of us who’ve been on the bandwagon for a while it feels like the driver’s double-backed on himself.

Whilst I do like the look of some of the content – it’s not things that I would have otherwise purchased. It’s a good business strategy from Sony’s point of view.

The demos that are pushed out to you to try.

O right, I was going to ask the same thing. Flower has a demo? I missed purchasing it while it was on offer and it’s still on my very long ‘to play’ list.

This actually seems disappointing to me. Why not offer a wider variety of discount stuff. None of it does me any good except forthe zen stuff because they’re giving me that. And are a few themes and avatars worth it? Do you change your avatar all the time? Also if we already own those games we should get a break or something. I’ve bought a ton of content already. This doesn’t even seem worth it at all :(

doesn’t really do anything for me. Mostly old stuff, and the decent stuff I already have. I dunno, just seems a bit pointless. I was hoping they would come up with some cracking stuff, but they haven’t.

It may not look all that inspiring, but they have to start somewhere and the only way is up. I can remember when the PSN store first opened its doors….very mediocre to say the least, but hell, look at the store now, everybody’s happy (nearly, mostly). And for between 55 and 77 pence per week to pay for the PS+ service, even these first offerings are worth being a part of it IMO of course. ;)

I’ve been on the store since first day. I’ve already bought over 75 games ntm DLC. I can see where it’s a very attractive offer for new PS3 owners but there is absolutely nothing for me in the first 2 months. Even the discounts have nothing for me.

Actually, DLC is not part of “Premium Game Elements”, as James Thorpy explained on the blog today:
“Hi, sorry for the cofusion. All the DLC (e.g. Killzone DLC, etc) we are currently offering is NOT tied to the subscription and you will keep it forever. This will always be the case unless stated otherwise in the description of the content on the store.
The reference in the T’s & C’s refers to a situation where we may, in the future, offer additional ‘Premium game elements’ and these may be linked to your subscrition.”
