So while Lee’s sunning it up in Benidorm, I’ve taken over this week’s Dev Diary for Adarakion. Uh-oh. For those of you who remember me, I’m responsible for the graphics and arty-farty (excuse me) bits for Adarakion.
Well, a lot of progress has been made graphically in terms of Adarakion and its visual representation. For instance Project 2 has seen me able to fully integrate simple but effective Vector drawings whereas I was finding Project Blast! was moving towards a 2.5D sense of direction. Should I have said that… Damn. Never mind. Of course it’s always challenging trying to think of unique sprites or interfaces but I hope you’ll see all my hard work when Project 2 moves ever closer to release. Apologies if it’s naff though!
Speaking of Project 2, I bet you’re desperate to know what it is or how it works or if it’s any good… Well, whilst Lee’s away I thought I’d be a bit more kind to you folks (I know, don’t thank me all at once haha). Think of it as an early Christmas present. In the words of Rolf Harris “can you tell what it is yet”?
Yes that’s right, first exclusive teaser images of project 2 – comments on the back of a postcard please!
Some say it lives underground and if you give it food, it does something magical. All I know is, it’s called … Wait what was it called again?
Coming from a Graphic Designer background, where I would just typically design business stationery or logos, I’ve found it interesting taking concepts from other places to come up with a design which has been taken apart and moved into a fully functioning ‘thing’. It’s like taking a piece of paper and making one of them decision makers – remember them?! “Pick a number, *shuffle*, Pick another number, *shuffle*, pick a colour *reveal* ‘You Smell’” Ok, the point being – it’s strange to think something simple can make something interesting.
It’s taken a lot to get project 2 to the stage and presentation that it’s at and I’m sure all the members of Adarakion will be pleased and proud of our achievements as a team. In the last month or two I’ve found it particularly hard, I’ve moved house – been extra busy at work – and in general just had little time to be at my laptop! So sorry guys if I’ve held you up – but it’s worth the wait! I think though, in term’s of project 2 (Graphically speaking) we’re at around 80% complete! However what we (I) must not do is get carried away with the end in sight and just scrimp on the quality.
Oh yeah, I’ve also got Adarakion’s website to upgrade too! Unfortunately, because of my house move and other things – I’ve had to push this to the back of the queue. I haven’t forgotten about it, just…. well yeah…. Once my artistic input on Project 2 is complete, there will be some time between finishing that and actual public release – this is when I hope to have Adarakion’s site finished and fully functioning to co-inside with its release. The new site should be a marked improvement on the current version, both front end and back end.
I think I’ve possibly bored half of you out there now with this, so with that thought I leave you in the hands of Lee for the next Dev Diary! Thanks for reading!
