Many have complained that you don’t get to keep your PlayStaion Plus games if you end your subscription. Be glad you’re not in Japan as they appear to be getting a rougher deal. According to the official Japanese PlayStation site you will get 3 games a month but you can only play them for 30 days. The 3 games they are offering this month are PAIN, Echochrome and Min Nyah putter GOLF.
Japan will receive LittleBigPlanet for free but only until 20th July compared with 3rd August for Europe. As I’ve simply run the website through a translator this may be in error but it appears that they may receive a different full PS3 game each month. LittleBigPlanet is listed under a section called Free Play. It doesn’t appear to be the trial service that Europe are receiving for games like InFamous. The translated text is below.
“Monthly updated “Gemuakaibusu” selected from PS3 ® software and standard, one can get a free title. PlayStation®Plus is available within the period you can enjoy unlimited number of times and time.”
Japan’s discounts are currently only available on full titles not on DLC. This month they have WipEout HD, Super Stardust HD and Tomaranna discounted. You can see the full list translated here. It does appear that Europe and America are being treated slightly better.

for £40.00. Its worth a go even if it turns out to be kack. The freebies, discounts and ability to download entire games for a test run are worth it alone.
The freebies abnd Discounts will essentially pay for the service….
Defo worth it……

Just signed up to it this morning. The freebies for this week alone pretty much pay for the subscription.

Get Kovacs to confirm the stuff you’re not sure about.

It’s not so bad, 3 full games a month rather than a one off special offer. Wipeout and SuperStardust are worth the subs.
I suppose the idea behind Wipeout for the UK is that most people will have it. I would have prefered infamous or LBP but you cant please all the people all the time.

If you sign up for PS+ but don’t download all of the free games for say July, can you still download them in later months ? (Assuming you’re still subscribed)

I don’t think so but from the comments I’ve read on the PS Blog once you have downloaded it you can re-download it at anytime as long as you’re a subscriber (even if you cancel it and re-subscribe).

Cheers. So basically download everything then.
I read through the FAQ which says themes and avatars are yours to keep, even if your subscription lapses, does the same apply for DLC?

You should be good if you download the game and then delete it – it’ll stay activated in your account until you let PS+ run out, and you’ll be able to DL it again. Alternately, once it’s started downloading it’ll be activated, and you should just be able to cancel the download. If you go to Account->Transactions->Download List (or something like that) you can see all the stuff you have activated for your account (newest first I think), so as long as it appears there you should have it for the duration.

This is probably just a translation issue, it doesn’t make sense for the games to only be playable for 30 days – it probably means you have 30 days to download the games before they change to something else, but once downloaded you can play them for as long as you’re a PSPlus member.

You are right. They put a date by which you have to download the games. 4th of August for us I think. You can still play them after this date as long as your sub is still active.

I agree, I think Jimmy needs to lay off the google (translator). I feel this whole article is likely in error.

little bit confused. How do you get LBP for free on download, only if you subscribe annually?

“Gemuakaibusu”
That means ‘archive game’.

The LBP for ONLY annual subscribers bugged me. I had just enough for a 90 day sub so I thought i’d get that then go annual after, just for ease. They never even said LBP was for annual only anywhere too, hopefully by the time the 90day runs out they’ll have an offer like the US have.

I posted a comment on Europe PS Blog and this is my reply I got:
Hi, Japan are offering a slightly different service to Europe and one of the differences is that they offer a 1 month membership which is the 30 days you mentioned.
If you download a game from plus then you get to keep it for as long and you are a member and Play it whenever you want during that time. Also, if you download the plus content, decide you need space so delete it, then you can just go back to the Store, search for the content and re-download it as long as you are a member still.
Hope that answers your question, cheers.

So the only difference here is that Japan are getting a 1 month subscription too as well as 3 months and 1 year. So Japan aren’t getting less.
