Well, that’s the first PS3 first party online game to have its servers shut down, then, as a notice (via EG) on the EU forums confirms that the internet battle servers for quirky (but, yes, rather dull) augmented reality game Eye of Judgment will be closed this September.
“We at SCEE sincerely thank you for your continued support of THE EYE OF JUDGMENT,” it says. “The online battle service for this product will terminate on 30 September 2010. Offline play will remain available even after the conclusion of online service.”
Rather cheekily, the notice still manages to get a quick advert in there for the PSP version of the game, though. “We hope you will continue to enjoy both THE EYE OF JUDGMENT, and the latest addition to the series, THE EYE OF JUDGMENT: LEGENDS, available exclusively for the PSP.”
Reactions to the new from the community has been mixed at best, with a tiny number of people playing online presumably the reason for the closure. Trophy hunters need not worry though, you don’t need to play online to get the Platinum, although you will need to purchase the latter two expansion packs.
