Putting recent internet rumours to rest, Gravity Crash creators Just Add Water have confirmed that they’re officially working on Oddworld games. “It’s with a huge amount of pride that we can announce that for the past 12 months we have been working extremely closely with the fantastic people at Oddworld Inhabitants,” says the press release.
The details are still secret just now, though. “Whilst we cannot go into specifics right now,” continues the bulletin, “we can tell you that over the coming weeks and months we will be announcing these exciting projects starring all of your favourite Oddworld characters.”
“To work with the team at Oddworld has been amazing; being able to tap the minds of Lorne Lanning, Sherry McKenna and others has been fantastic,” said Just Add Water’s Managing Director Stewart Gilray.
“It’s almost symbiotic in that when something moves forward on any of the projects we just start chatting about new items, or what if we do this,” Gilray continued. “We’re all extremely excited to breathe life into the Oddworld universe and indeed to let it breathe life into us.”

The return of Abe? Oh yes please! Don’t care for the other series… what was it called?

Munch’s Oddyssey and Strangers Wrath are the only two games I can think of.

I played the two Abe games on PlayStation and loved them, but never played the others mainly because Microsoft poached them for Xbox…
According to Wikipedia Oddworld was originally a pentalogy, the following were released (excluding handheld versions):
Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee (Part 1 – PS/PC)
Oddworld: Abe’s Exoddus (Bonus sequel – PS/PC)
Oddworld: Munch’s Oddysee (Part 2 – Xbox)
Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath (FPS with TPP elements – Xbox)
So it looks like Microsoft tried to turn it into an FPS and killed the franchise, other games that were cancelled after the FPS game are:
SligStorm (story of an albino Slig who was born in a complex it must escape to avoid infanticide, a bonus game with the [presumably Xbox exclusive] re-release of the two Abe games)
Oddworld: Munch’s Exoddus (Bonus game to part 2)
Oddworld: Squeek’s Oddysee (Part 3 of the pentalogy)
Oddworld: The Hand of Odd (an online RTS)
The Brutal Ballad of Fangus Klot (A mature rated game focusing on the life of a sheepherder!)

I don’t think Strangers Wrath was Microsoft’s idea

Me too , i played the first 2 PS games but would never buy an xbox (nothing personal , just that at the time i believed Sony where more classy and better build quality) So i never experienced the 3rd and 4th games . One main console is what i have always stuck with and i love getting all the handhelds .

Stranger’s Wrath was actually very good. I’d advise anyone with access to an old xbox and a love for the oddworld games to pick it up if you haven’t already played it. Didn’t matter that it was a totally different style of game from the previous oddworld titles, the sense of place was spot on.

Ahhh now I understand…. ;)
Awesome news. I thought Oddworld Inhabitants were closed. Now I see that they only shut the devs down.
Good luck JAW! I hope you can pull this off!
No pressure… ;)

Will this mean that the Oddworld site:http://www.oddworld.com/
Will get moving? Says 2006 all rights reserved.
So does that mean the “new site” was on a four year wait?
