Microsoft have just announced the pricing for Kinect here in the UK. There’s two bundles – a console, Kinect and Kinect Adventures for £249.99 and without the console for £129.99.

“Get all of your controller-free entertainment in one complete package,” says the press release. “This includes the all-new Xbox 360 4GB console, the revolutionary Kinect sensor and the Kinect Adventures game.  In Kinect Adventures, you’ll get to navigate roaring rapids and mountain-top obstacle courses, and experience numerous other adventures in exotic locations.”

More than 15 games will be available at launch – Kinect games, including Kinectimals, Kinect Sports and Kinect Joy Ride, will retail for £39.99.

“Kinect for Xbox 360 offers fantastic new ways to be entertained for the whole family,” said Chris Lewis, vice president, Interactive Entertainment Business at Microsoft Europe. “With full body, voice and multiplayer play straight out of the box, Kinect is a unique way for everyone to enjoy controller-free fun and entertainment.”

    • Yea whats that 4gb all about, that a typo?
Although I dont own a 360, I remain uninspired by the Kinect. It looks shit and so does that rapid rafting game, who’s wants to jump up & down like a cock? It didn’t even look fun when those actresses were pretending to play it at E3.

    • 4GB is more than enough…i think people are getting Kinect’s target market confused. its not for ‘us’, the sort of people on TSA, gamers. Its for wii owners who want something different to play, and open the chance of them playing a few lego batmans in HD. Kinect is a casual device, its far to inaccurate to do the things hardcore gamers want to do.

This device is not meant to make PS3 owners rush out and get a 360, its not even meant for 360 owners to run an buy it, its purely for getting the same audience as the wii. Also 4GB should be enough to download a film or a few XBLA games if needed.

  6. This is going into the Cheap Games and Deals thread on the forum! It depends on how good the technology is to be honest. People shouldn’t just disregard it on the high price point alone.

    • i don’t, i disregard it on the technology

      • Bit early to disregard it on technological grounds too though. Think I’ll wait till I’ve used release hardware, before I make up my mind.

    • I can’t decide what’s funnier, the £129.99 price tag or ‘xbox 4GB model’ I mean really what the hell is 4GB to anyone these days?

      • Terrible isn’t it! I could plug in my usb stick and triple the memory!

  8. £129.99…. seriously? And they are targeting the casual market? Right… That should work then. I was tempted with Kinect but at that price, no deal. Maybe when it goes down in price.

    • Oh it might well hit the casual market, look at how the Wii and accessories are priced.

      • Quick check of ShopTo…and yes, the Wii is just five quid more than Kinect. Forget shot, MS have blown their foot off with a bazooka.

      • Yeah, but you still need an Xbox to use Kinect. It depends would casuals already have an Xbox? Some might, probably most don’t..
