PSN Store Update: 21/07/10

It’s that time of the week again, and if you’re not a PlayStation+ subscriber today’s the day you get your hands on the Kane and Lynch 2 demo.  We’ve been playing the full game for a little while now, and will have our impressions next week, but in the meantime make sure you get the playable demo and let us know what you think.

Elsewhere, there’s the arrival of Gravity Crash on the PSP, the portable version of one of our favourite PS3 PSN titles, so if you’re picking that up drop us a comment and give us your opinion on that lovely retro handheld goodness.  A new rack of special offers (good until August 4th) are up, too, pretty much all themed around fighters and whilst £3 off Tekken 5 is a bit of a joke, there’s some bargains there elsewhere.

  1. Sweet FA!

  2. Wow – Fight week in the special offers then!!

Also, is it just me or are these updates decidedly ‘slimmer’ since the release of Playstation Plus?

    • Karate Kid innit

    • I guess there was never a fixed quota of what Sony had to get out there each week but I feel the same. A bit of the fat has certainly been trimmed off.

      • Maybe it’s just the usual summer lull in good game related stuff.

      • I feel the same, I thought the updates were generally quite poor anyway but I have to say they’ve got poorer since Playstation Plus was released.
And before anyone decides to waste time in their lives listing everything released before and after PS+, therefore proving me wrong, I have 2 things to say. First ,this is just the impression I get it is not based on sound evidence, strictly my feelings on the matter and secondly, get a life and stop wasting your time trying to prove every little thing you read on the internet in forums or comments sections wrong. Losers!!!

      • can i jsut say actually this comment isn’t aimed at anyway its just a pre-emptive remark regarding the state of the internet

      • We have a couple slow weeks and people bring out the pitchforks…

      • Definitely the summer I believe it’s usually this quiet, ready for the “Holiday” season (i.e. late Sep – Dec)

      • Could just be timing i guess – Just seems strangely coincedental thats all.

    • No, just some weeks are crappier than others

      • I hope your right

      • well some weeks i download loads and the next it may just be a video just so i don’t feel like im wasting my time. All down to personnel taste to i guess

  3. Marvel costumes are awesome!

  4. If someone gives me a working PS3 I’d be happy to buy some content! :-)

  5. Pain avatars sound good, might grab one or two of them (no Hoff though?!)
Otherwise not much for me this week

  6. Nothing for me this week.

  7. Balls. I want MK2 and SFIIHDTR from the special offers as well as Gravity Crash PSP.
The PS Store team are really doing a lovely job with content and specials these days, all credit to them.

    • I have to admit that you are right – Most of my PSN purchases have been due to reductions in the ‘special offers’ & they have had a nice assortment that have populated the section every couple of weeks. Without this, i am somewhat ashamed to say that i would probably have never played Critter Crunch, Gravity Crash, Magic Orbz or even Flower as i am just too stingy to pay full price!

Does have me thinking ‘hmm… wonder if that’ll go down at some point’ when stuff gets released though, meaning that i may not purchase straight away!

      Swings & roundabouts…

    • YAY! OMG with this one comment you’ve just managed to stop me killing myself.

      • Don’t kill yourself dude.

      • Well alright but only because you asked nicely.

      • Awesome. DrOfsave.

      • Glad to be of service. As long as you’re still with us, any chance I could borrow a tenner to buy stuff off the store ;)

  8. Hate to be the bearer of unfortunate news, but the US store has been updated with a few more Plus discounts and an avatar or two, as well as a free theme. Nothing unmissable but I feel for you guys. Or maybe this is old news. It looks like the US really is getting more.

    • In reference to PS+

    • The US is getting their PS+ content rolled out weekly whereas EU PS+ subscribers get theirs at the start of each month.
Hopefully it’s just that timing rather than a different value proposition.

      • Yeah I don’t think there’s a major difference in value.

  9. only the sheriff sirloin for mnr for me this week.

    • really, I wouldn’t buy it if i were you, someone this week will reate an exact replica of both the mod and kart and then you can download that for free for the sake of a few days and you can spend the money on something you’ll never be able to get for free

  10. Am I the only one interested in Kane and Lynch 2? What this this and Limbo on 360, its a good day, imo..

    • Loved the Hitman games but really disliked The first K&L, the sequel looks interesting though, I like the shaky cam stuff and the “feel” but just hope they de-robotise the animation a bit in time for release.

    • No me too

    • I played the demo and I honestly wasn’t that impressed. The film effects were quite interesting but it all just gave me a headache after about 30 minutes and it all just felt average – the graphics, the gameplay, the story. Nothing to get excited about.
