Daily Star Journo Fights Back

Jerry Lawton, the man who wrote the story published by the Daily Star yesterday about a game they made up, has hit back at angry gamers via his FaceBook wall.

The comment claims confusion at the way he handled the non-story. He further goes on to exhibit a peculiar and outdated view of what modern gamers are.

“Baffled by the fury of adult gamers,” Destructoid reports him saying, “these are grown (?!?) men who sit around all day playing computer games with one another who’ve today chosen to enter the real world just long enough to complain about my story slamming a Raoul Moat version of Grand Theft Auto!”

“You would think I’d denied the Holocaust!!! Think I’ll challenge them to a virtual reality duel….stab….I win!!!”

Obviously this is not only a bizarre view of the world’s largest grossing entertainment industry, it’s sure to infuriate people even more. His closing comments are incredibly insensitive and ill-judged but then, judging from his profile picture, perhaps he’d had a couple of lagers before he posted.

We have contacted Mr. Lawton to offer him the chance to comment on the matter and we’ll let you know what he says, if anything.
