Remember the rumours about a possible Capcom / Namco crossover fighting game double pack, with characters from both blending into two different games produced by two studios?
Well, they were true – at Comic-Con just now both Capcom and Namco have announced their games: Street Fighter X Tekken and, yes, Tekken X Street Fighter.
On stage, Street Fighter series producer Yoshinori Ono confirmed that Capcom are working on the former, and Tekken producer Katsuhiro Harada has given the official nod to the latter.
And to prove a point, a game was played live (using Capcom’s version) between Ryu and Jin Kazama.
The Street Fighter led game will be in 2D, the Tekken one making use, as you’d imagine, of three dimensions. Somewhere, people are very excited. There’s no date yet announced for the games.

This seems like perhaps a final swansong for the Fighter genre , for the two biggest rivals to join up is surely only as a result of poor sales for their last two games and not really just for a treat for their fans .
I used to love Way of the Exploding Fist , IK+ , Tekken and Soul Caliber but like many long time gamers we have fell out of love with the genre. Even this won’t be a big enough carrot to make me buy it .
