Earlier this morning we reported that Capcom intends to increase its game output and this may mean further Resident Evil titles. A spokesperson for Capcom has said,

“You can figure this one out really. These new games won’t be Resi 6 or Resi 7 or anything like that. They will be spin-off titles.”

Presumably this means the titles will be downloadable games, perhaps re-imaginings of the franchise like the recent Lara Croft title.

In other zombie news, Sony have reminded PlayStation owners that only Resi 5 Gold will support Move – those of us with standard Resident Evilness will miss out:

‘If you already own a copy of Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition for your PS3, you’ll be able to download a free patch close to the launch of the PlayStation Move (September 19th in North America) to enable the new motion-control scheme”

‘This will only work with RE5 copies labeled “Gold Edition” – the original version of RE5 won’t be receiving the patch, for technical reasons.”

  1. “the original version of RE5 won’t be receiving the patch, for technical reasons.”

…such as not making people buy Gold Edition if they want Move support.

    • But will both titles share the same trophies?

I’ve platted Resi 5 but really want to do the DLC so may buy Resi 5 Gold Edition. If I do it’d be great if I could get the game to 10% instead of having two different instances of it in my list.

      • Why not just buy the DLC on the Store?

  2. In the light of the recent announcement about upping the quantity of games produced, I hope we also see a PS3 and Move supported version of Resident Evil 4, it would just be a case of porting the wii version to work on the PS’s hardware… and considering Capcom are the king or re-releases, I’m hoping this will happen

    • Agreed, I loved Resi IV, and Deadspace built on the groundwork it layed down so much more successfully than its own sequel did that I couldn’t help but be underwhelmed by V.

  3. So resident evil secretion? lol

The orginal version not getting move support sucks.
