Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike Is Download Only

At least you won't have to ask the guy at the counter if it's in.

Announced at Comic-con, fighting fans were worked up into a veritable frenzy with the news that Capcom will be releasing Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike Online Edition. The obvious association is that the online aspect refers to fighting people across PSN and Xbox Live. This is still highly likely the case, of course, though Eurogamer are now leading with the news that the game will be available via download only, somewhat suggesting the “online” element of the title is more to do with its delivery method.

We doubt it, though it’s still good news; such a decision representing yet another indication that big publishers are treating the digital distribution model as a viable method of releasing games. On the other hand, it does ask the question: are we still going to be able to shoryuken people over the interweb? We’d be shocked if it turned out you couldn’t.

Loving that this is coming to XBLA.
I bought the game recently (its like rocking horse shit now. Amazon have a NEW copy for £75!)
Re digital distribution, its only a good thing. Keeps costs down, and is environmentally friendly
