On Tuesday Microsoft continued the most hated trend of 2010 (as voted by me) by announcing they would be making an announcement. Today they got round to announcing this ‘very special’ Halo: Reach announcement and if you are a fan of Channel 4′s ‘T4′ it’s very special indeed.

From mid August, Microsoft will be running a competition to find the leader of the UK Halo Reach ‘Elite Spartan Squad’. The competition will consist of mini rounds of Halo 3 and you can sign up on Xbox.com from August 4th. If you win, your prize will be to become the team captain of the UK Elite Spartan squad at the London launch event in September.

So, who else will be in your squad? What about battle hardened killers? Well you get Jameela Jamil, TV presenter from T4, Rio Ferdinand off of football, Jason Bradbury from The Gadget Show and devilishy handsome rugby hunk, Ben Cohen. Sadly Ben has a restraining order stating I cannot go within 100 metres of him or else I would enter. The competition.

The fifth member of the Celeberity Spartans will be announced next week so place your guess now. Could it be Sue Pollard? A Sugababe? The dim blonde one from boy band ‘Blue’? Maggie Philbin would be a good bet, she used to be good with technology. Whilst you ponder which A-lister could join your team, why not check out the recent trailer for the game.
