It’s Wednesday, which means it’s time for the PSN Store to update. This week sees the launch of August’s PlayStation Plus content, bringing with it the ability to download the PSN title; Zen Pinball, MediEvil from the range of PSOne Classics and the Blast Off and Alien Zombie Death PlayStation Minis, along with the range of full game trials, discounts, themes and avatars.
As part of the normal weekly store update there is the digital release of LittleBigPlanet and the Gundemonium Collection for the PS3. Along with Ridge Racer and Groovin’ blocks for the PSP. However, this weeks must have (for me, at least) is Tekken 2 – a title which fully deserves the heading ‘PSOne Classic’.
What’s catching your eye this week?

Guitar Hero is dead isn’t it?
The DLC has been utter rubbish in comparison to Rockband for years now, I suppose people will get carried away with the new Guitars for this years forthcoming GH: Warriors Of Rock, but the fact the tracks are 60% more expensive and there’s always far less of them means I’ll never touch the franchise again
DJ-Katy
Did you notice how one of the Rock Band tracks was 25p more expensive than usual this week? That has filled me with suspicion that they are going to creep the price up now.
cc_star
Good spot, they’re probably wondering how the only competitor charges 60% more and why they don’t narrow the gap somewhat
Testing the waters?
DJ-Katy
Maybe I’m paranoid or maybe it’s a pricing error, but I fear you could be right :/
Forrest_01
Anyone played Switchball or Flock? Any good?
DJ-Katy
Switchball is good, Flock has retarded controls. If I was going to buy one or the other I’d buy Switchball (I have both). It does very much depend if you like that kind of game or not though. It’s a puzzler where accurate stick control is essential.
Forrest_01
Thanks DJ-Katy – Most appreciated.
A quick browse around the net generally backs your opinion of Flock up, as some have even gone so far to say that the controls are broken (although i suspect that they intended to make it a tad on the difficult side).
Switchball kinda reminds me of Marble Madness back in the day (for those of you that are old enough to remember that!), so i may take the plunge with that one.
Saying that, they are both cheap now, so i may just push the boat out & get both! Check me out – Big spender!
DJ-Katy
I should add then, I paid for Switchball and got Flock for free. I would not pay for Flock. The controls are borderline broken in that, for example you have to heard the sheep and cows but it is very inaccurate and the isometric perspective makes moving the cursor awkward. The animals constantly go off randomly so you have to keep going back and herding one or two of them back into the group, which quickly gets frustrating. The game is solid and it’s a real shame because the concept is good and the controls absolutely wreck it like they did in topatoi before it was patched.
Switchball is a bit different to Marble Madness, it’s a slow moving game because of the precision required, and it gets hard after just a few levels. An easier less cerebral choice would be Hamster ball, which is msotly fun in short bursts, it’s fairly braindead and all about hammering the ball down tubes at high speed. They look similar but play totally different.
Anyway, report back and let us know what you think :)

I nearly bought Section 8 yesterday, thank god I didn’t! =D
DrNate86
I bought Section 8 last time it was on offer, I would say it is worth it for £8 as it has a good (if not short) one player, you can still find games easily online and it is nice to have a reasonably distracting FPS to hand whenever you fancy it. The jetpack mechanics and customisability of your character are both entertaining enough to come back to I find.

I remember a mate of mine getting Tekken 2 (& Wipeout 2097). They were meant to be Xmas presents but he opened them early.
My jaw literally hit the floor – they both looked incredible. I’ve not had that same feeling of excitement since; maybe I’m getting old!
mrfodder
I remember seeing the pair on them on a 6 ft projection screen. Went out and bought a PS One and both games the next day.
manicmushrom
this all means nothing to me as i do not have a working ps3 :(
Kennykazey

Yep was just about to point that out too. It’s 15 Norwegian kroner (£1.49) on the Norwegian store.
adamguest1985
I can’t see MW2 or Blur Demos. Hmm. Also, No Inferno Pool on Plus. (I didn’t see the full game trials last month either though. Nor did I get the ‘push’ demos.
Ho hum.
adamguest1985
No heavy rain theme either…
Shakugan
OMG!!! It’s the end of the world!!! :D
adamguest1985
@Shakugan – Thanks, that’s ever so helpful.
Raider197
Where’s the MW2 demo?
adamguest1985
I couldn’t see it either. Found it in the US store though.
Shakugan
