Who’s That Flying?! Announced

Remember Monsters (probably) Stole My Princess? We gave it a 9/10? You bought it, and loved it? Yep? Good. Well, the guys behind the game, Mediatonic, are back, with a side scrolling shooter crossed, we’re told, with tower defence and courtroom drama – it’s called Who’s That Flying?!

The press release is brilliant, and typically humourous for a studio on only their second Mini. “Players take control of the mysterious and powerful creature known only as the Guardian of Earth,” it says, “his steely eye and HYPER-POWERED LASER ARM have kept the citizens of Earth safe for generations (as well as proving a hit with the ladies).”

“With all his awesome TALENT and FLAIR, surely it would be IMPOSSIBLE for a sudden and devastating invasion of colossal Doom Beasts to descend on the Earth’s cities and cause havoc without his knowledge? No. It’s not. And the fact that he was posing for photos at the time has nothing to do with it.”

The game will feature 15 levels for the main story mode, 4 infinite modes and 25 challenge levels. You can read more about it here.

Mediatonic’s co-founder, creative director and all round hunk Paul Croft told us: “it’s fantastic to be announcing another title for Sony’s brilliant PlayStation Minis service. WTF was a really interesting game to work on as we tried to combine two very different game mechanics to create something truly unique. We’ve packed a lot of content and personality into the game and we’re really excited about the launch!”

Oh come on, someone had to.

    • And you beat me to it.

    • I think nofi beat you both to it with the sub-heading. Unlucky :)

    • That he did …

    • Incidentally, this developer is also responsible for the psp minigame collection WTF! (Work Time Fun).

  3. This looks great, hopefully will be just as awesome as M(P)SMP!

  4. im a big fan of mediatonic’s work and looks like this will be even longer than m(p)smp which was my only problem with it was it was too short

  5. These guys have completely the right idea. There are a million sidescrolling shooters available on PSN (even more now Gundemonium trilogy has been released), but by giving them weird names and visuals they really grab your attention.

  6. Great, i’ve been hankering after some side scrolling shooty mini goodness.
