Lately, books based on video games have turned out to be actually pretty good.  I’ve read the Halo novels from cover to cover, devoured the Gears of War books in a single sitting and am now currently ploughing through the God of War novel – it’s all good stuff.

The Fable franchise is getting a novel, and it comes with an interesting hook.  An unlock code will be provided with the book, granting access to an unannounced weapon in Fable III.  The blurb for the book is as follows;

 ”The days of magic and adventure are fading away, giving way to the age of industry and science. As the aged last Hero sits upon the throne of Albion, two friends-the privileged Thomas and his loyal servant, John- set out for the East in search of a legendary beast: the vicious, rarely-seen balverine. But their desire for adventure may be their ultimate undoing-because their quarry has just found them…”

I can imagine that last sentence being ended with a dramatic “dum dum duuuum!”  The book will be out early October priced round about £6.99.

  1. Yay. Now I don’t need to work out what to buy my friend. Thanks, Dan! (sorry… you are not the receiver of said gift). ;-)

  2. Im guessing this is a unique code and not a global one, so one person can not go out and buy the book and spread the code over the forums
